Why implants

Natural, durable and built to last

A dental implant is a small, biocompatible titanium post that takes the place of a missing tooth root inside the jawbone. The crown, bridge or prosthesis placed on top feels and looks indistinguishable from your own teeth.

Digital planning, guided surgery and CAD/CAM crown fabrication make the whole process predictable and comfortable. With proper care, an implant is designed to last a lifetime.

Advantages

Six core advantages of implants

What sets implants apart from bridges or removable dentures.

Natural appearance

Implant crowns look exactly like your own teeth and give a completely natural feeling.

Clear speech

You speak without worrying about teeth slipping or shifting out of place.

A real tooth root

Replaces the lost natural root and restores the jaw's original support structure.

Comfortable eating

Functions like a natural tooth — enjoy meals without pain, pressure or limits.

Confidence

Restores your smile and gives you that extra bit of confidence in social life.

Long lifespan

With good oral hygiene, an implant can last for decades — often a lifetime.

Treatment journey

The treatment process, step by step

A planned, predictable journey that typically spans 2–4 months.

01

Exam & 3D planning

Clinical examination, panoramic X-ray and CBCT scan assess bone volume. The plan is drafted digitally.

02

Approval & prep

We share the plan, timeline and pricing with you. Any extraction or bone graft is scheduled in the same flow.

03

Surgical placement

Under local anaesthesia in sterile conditions, the implant is placed. A single implant typically takes 20–30 minutes.

04

Osseointegration

The implant fuses with the bone: 6–8 weeks in the lower jaw, 10–12 weeks in the upper, with follow-up visits.

05

Crown & new smile

We take an intra-oral scan, design and bond a CAD/CAM zirconia or porcelain crown. Smile complete.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The 10 questions we are most often asked about implant treatment.

When bone is sufficient, one implant per missing tooth is preferred. In some cases, two implants can support a bridge. The exact number is set only after clinical and radiographic examination.

Yes. Even edentulous patients can move to fixed prostheses if they have adequate bone — or after grafting. Lower-jaw denture wobble and speech issues are eliminated with implants.

A classical bridge reduces and cuts the healthy neighbouring teeth. With implants, adjacent teeth are untouched — the missing tooth is rebuilt with its own independent root and crown. Bone resorption at the gap is also prevented.

Nearly every systemically healthy adult with sufficient bone thickness, height and quality is eligible. When bone is insufficient, grafting can be performed. Rare exceptions are assessed case by case.

Titanium is biocompatible. It doesn't interact with body tissues and has no known allergic reactions — so "rejection" is not the concern. Success depends mostly on hygiene, smoking and systemic health.

General osteoporosis and jawbone loss are distinct conditions. Jawbone density can be good even in osteoporosis. Medication history and bone density are assessed in detail beforehand.

Implants cost more than classical prostheses because of the high-tech manufacturing. Treatment also takes longer — 6 weeks to 3 months of osseointegration — so the full journey is 2–4 months.

After local anaesthesia, the implant socket is prepared in the jawbone and the implant is placed. A healing screw is fitted while the bone fuses with the implant. Once ready, the impression is taken and the permanent crown is bonded.

The biggest determinant is daily oral hygiene. Six-month check-ups and professional cleaning are recommended. With proper care an implant can last a lifetime.

Absolutely. Brands with strong R&D, clinical data, technical support and a wide range of abutments should be preferred. That's why Dentomed uses only Straumann (Switzerland) and Neodent (Straumann Group).
